Stein World names Dan Masters president, CEO

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Accent furniture and lighting resource Stein World has named industry veteran Dan Masters as its president and CEO.

He replaces Stephen Kosmalski, who resigned from the company this week to pursue other opportunities. Kosmalski had been with Stein World since early 2012.

Masters most recently was at motion furniture specialist Lane Home Furnishings, where he was president from August 2012 until late November. He joined Lane in May 2012 as vice president of business development.

Masters was one of the top executives released by KPS Capital Partners in November after it received bankruptcy court approval to buy Lane and other assets of the former Furniture Brands International, including Broyhill, Thomasville and Henredon. Lane and its sister brands are now in a KPS-managed group of companies called Heritage Home Group.

Before Lane, Masters was president of case goods importer and manufacturer Hekman for eight years.

He started his career at Flexsteel, where he eventually headed sales. After that he led sales and marketing at Riverside Furniture. He also has held executive roles at Jasper Cabinet and Richardson Bros. Furniture.

David Fiore, Stein World's board chairman, said that Masters' diverse industry experience and leadership ability combined with his strong supply chain experience and "excellent strategic vision" will help take the company to its next level of growth.

Masters said he is glad to be part of Stein World and looks forward to helping guide the company toward future growth.
