The ongoing coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the globe has forced the postponement of the 127th edition of the Canton Fair.

According to the China's Ministry of Commerce, the 127th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) will be held online from June 15-24 for a period of 10 days.

China will hold Canton Fair online in June, according to an executive meeting of the State Council.

“Due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic across the globe, China will host the 127th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) online in mid to late June. Official Website: The 127th Canton Fair to be Postponed
The official website of the Canton Fair finally released a news notice about the postponement of the exhibition. “After study, we've decided to postpone the 127th Canton Fair. Coordination between different departments and regions will be stepped up, sound preparations will be continued and various plans including epidemic prevention and control improved. The new date for the fair will be released as soon as confirmed.”

The spring session of Canton Fair has been suspended
The 127th edition of the Canton Fair has been suspended over concerns about the spread of the coronavirus. The announcement was made on March 23 by authorities in Guangdong and it is unclear when the exhibition will actually take place.

The 2020 Canton Fair will go ahead despite coronavirus pandemic threat
The spring session of the Canton Fair, China's largest trade expo, will go ahead despite a global outbreak of the coronavirus, China’s Premier Li Keqiang said in a statement on March 12. Li did not say whether the spring session should be rescheduled or shortened, nor did China’s Ministry of Commerce, which is in charge of the fair, or the event’s organising committee.

On Feb 21, answering a journalist question of “whether the spring Canton Fair will be postponed or canceled”, Li Xingqian, Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce said that currently the preparations of the 127th Canton Fair are carried out steadily according to the plan.
