COLOR OF THE MONTH | WELCOME SPRING IN CREAM YELLOW – PART 1
2020.04.14
Be inspired by the yellow color trend for 2020 and 2021 in Interiors and Design
CREAM YELLOW
Last month we shared love for a vivacious red – this month we are toning it down with a warm neutral Cream Yellow. In this difficult moment, we are dreaming about sunshine and summer evenings, and chose a spring dusty yellow inspired by golden daffodils. Think sandy beaches, creamy vanilla ice cream with a hint of honey. This may give you an idea of where we are heading for our colour of the month – and, hopefully, soon again in real life ^_^
YELLOW COLOR TREND
Pills of Cream Yellow
Yellow – the colour of sunshine, happiness and hope – a colour which we have previously touched on. Right at the beginning, we kick started our colour journey with a shade of Milano mustard yellow, also the citrusy hue of lemon yellow and now we are going even more mellow with Cream Yellow.
Being the lightest hue of the spectrum – yellow is uplifting and illuminating. Yellow can create enthusiasm for life, inspire original thought and even awaken greater confidence and optimism.
This time we are looking at the creamy side of yellow. Cream gets its name from the dairy product naturally produced by cattle grazing on natural pasture with plants rich in yellow carotenoid pigments, some of which are incorporated into the fresh milk (specifically, the butterfat). This gives a yellow tone to otherwise-white milk. Dairy cream can be considered part way between the colour of natural cow's milk and butter – to make the colour cream a tad of yellow is added to white.
Cream is the pastel colour of yellow and is a calm and relaxing neutral hue. Because of its associations with sunlight, yellow is often seen as a warm colour.

After the darker days of winter, the joy of Spring – which means more mood-boosting sunlight. We often hear about how much the sun's warm rays can be harmful to our skin however, the right balance can have mood-lifting benefits. Exposure to sunlight is thought to increase the brain's release of a hormone called serotonin – associated with boosting mood and helping a person feel calm and focused. Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones, and we get most of ours from sunlight exposure.
