The most popular houses on Vogue Living from the last 10 years

2025.04.15

10. Kylie Jenner’s former Los Angeles home, 2021

The former residence of super-influencer Kylie Jenner was located in the Los Angeles suburb of Hidden Hills, and destined to draw attention. Despite not even being old enough to drink legally at the time, Jenner instructed Bullard to craft something both luxurious and playful. “This was her first really grown-up house,” he explains. “I told Martyn I wanted a fresh, fun vibe to match the way I was feeling. Colour was essential. I love pink, and I wanted a lot of it!” says Jenner.

9. A young family’s Brooklyn brownstone, 2023

In this South Slope brownstone, designer Crystal Sinclair responded to her clients’ love of colour by infusing every room with a different hue. “Anything but neutral,” she says of the brief, “so that’s what we gave them!” The house is brought to life with eclectic accents and an array of mid-century modern furniture loved by its owners, Lauren and Will.

8. An expansive Malibu home, 2023

Set on a private estate in the hills of Malibu, this contemporary new build boasts striking views of the Pacific. And its bar, carved from strikingly veined marble, visible from the front entryway, is one of the home’s highlights. “We wanted it to feel different than a lot of the stone waterfall islands or bars we’ve all seen, so we created a more dramatic curve at the edges and the bottom toe kick, which was not easy for our stone mason to achieve. After many drawings and conversations back and forth, it came out nicely,” Marc Berger, principal at Hunterhouse Design.

7. Travis Barker’s Calabasas home, 2022

The Blink-182 drummer and hubby of Kourtney Kardashian needs little introduction, but it’s the tranquillity of his residence in celebrity enclave Calabasas, California that surprised us most. “I’ve had homes with lots of flashy cars, murals, and bikes hanging from the ceiling. But with three children of my own, plus Kourtney’s kids, this place felt right for this moment in my life. I wanted a house where I can rest and enjoy my family, a place where we can create memories,” says Barker.

6. A Dover Heights family home, 2022

In this Sydney home crafted by Shona McElroy of Smac Studio, the kitchen’s dramatic angles and semi-translucent Quartzite kitchen bench hit all the right notes. “This was my third project with the homeowner, whose business is building high-end duplex homes in the Eastern Suburbs,” says McElroy, who felt confident delivering what her client wanted.

5. A Beaux-Arts mansion in Brussels, 2021

With its stunning 19th century architecture and leafy outlook, the home of Belgian architect David Van Severen and his wife, Swedish photographer Martina Bjorn, is one that is easy to love. “It faces an avenue with gardens at the front. When we first saw it we had one of those ‘this is too good to be true’ feelings because of its generous open spaces and a big, wild garden at the back,” says Bjorn of the three-level Beaux-Arts-style home she shares with her husband and two children.

4. A West Village townhouse, 2015

Interior trends ebb and flow, but there’s something universal and timeless about an expertly manicured garden. Bonus points if it happens to be located on a chic Manhattan terrace located in a landmark New York building dating back to the 1840s.

3. One couple’s central Warsaw apartment, 2021

A longtime favourite of VL, Polish designer Marta Chrapka of Colombe Studio is a deft hand when it comes to reimagining pre-war architecture. And this apartment is no exception. The decision to use de Gournay wallpaper in the kitchen is a perfect example of Chrapka’s note-perfect design instincts. “The clients were not convinced at the beginning, but luckily after a few weeks they decided to trust us,” she says of the move.

2. Marie-Cassandre Bultheel’s London home, 2021

Despite its relatively compact size (80 square metres), this two-level, one-bedroom apartment in Earl’s Court Square belonging to entrepreneur and writer Marie-Cassandre Bultheel was an instant hit when it was published in 2021. Calm and overwhelmingly neutral, readers loved its quiet minimalism. Fittingly, the space once belonged to the former editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue, American writer and actress Joan Juliet Buck.

1. Richard Shapiro’s Los Angeles house, 2018

Taken from VL’s March/April 2018 issue, which was guest edited by American interior designer Kelly Wearstler, the Holmby Hills home of antiques dealer and founder of Studiolo furnishings, Richard Shapiro, is a neoclassical ode to the owner’s love of Italian architecture. Grand, and filled wall-to-wall with antique furniture, it’s no surprise this shot of his pool house wins the top prize. Repeatedly shared on our Instagram, the structure is a detailed recreation of the façade of Villa Chiericati at Vancimuglio in the Veneto, Northern Italy, and a direct reflection of Shapiro’s sharp curatorial eye. “I like to think of the house as a 17th-century Florentine villa, as pretentious as that may sound,” he says.
