New & Noteworthy: March Trend Advisor Edition

Surrealism was a major thread in discussions of January’s Maison & Objet. Julian Sebban of design firm Uchronia was given free rein to sketch out a hotel environment using products from Maison & Object exhibitors. The result was a rule-breaking game of color, form and texture. The ember-like glow of this cc-tapis Swirl Autumn handmade rug by Sebban’s firm, Univers Uchronia, caught my eye. Capturing the heat of a colorway I have been forecasting for two years now, it draws you in to warm both mind and spirit. Its kitsch crochet technique and granny scalloped edges are given discipline by its radiant, concentric circles of tone-on-tone color. It’s an exercise in “too much” and “just what we needed.” I want one.
Green has been evolving over the past several seasons in the paint world. Always with a biophilic and nature-based focus, warm olive and herbal greens have been at the forefront for some time. Newer greens are leaning towards cool, blue-based variations like sage, jade and eucalyptus. They have a quiet, meditative quality perfect for infusing a sense of calm and relaxation, especially in bedrooms and baths.
Dinner parties and gatherings are trending, yet at the same time, the need for convenience has never been more important. This whimsical fondue station from Nouvel offers convenience (all equipment and accessories included), kitsch and an invitation for conversation and connection — a perfect solution for engaging and entertaining with ease.
I had been following Patina Vie on Instagram and loved their aesthetic, but I was so excited to see the showroom and product at market! This spring, they had a stunning French colored glass collection in a color scheme different than any other showroom. The colors were stunning, and they had both tumbler and goblet styles available. We know colored glass is returning to the limelight, but the company’s presentation and quality were unmatched. We have ALL of these coming to our retail store this month to complement the fresh flowers, and I cannot wait to host a spring supper with these beauties!
